Tomb of Annihilation: Cleric Scalykind Domain

For use in your Tomb of Annihilation campaign or any campaign that features lizardfolk, yuan-ti, or dinosaurs…


Long before the elves or dwarves walked the lands, reptiles ruled the world. The Scalykind domain draws from the primal might of reptiles and clerics not only gain their guile and speed, but can also control such beasts. Many who share their bloodline, such as the lizardfolk, are drawn to this domain but also have adherents from other races who wish to gain dominance over these creatures.

1st find familiar (reptiles only), expeditious retreat
3rd beast sense, protection from poison
5th conjure animals (reptiles only), polymorph (reptiles only)
7th confusion, freedom of movement
9th commune with nature, seeming


Bonus Cantrip

When you choose this domain at 1st level, you gain the poison spray cantrip if you don’t already know it.


Starting at 1st level, you can communicate with reptiles as if with the speak with animals spell. You also have advantage on Wisdom (Animal Handling) skill checks against reptiles.

Channel Divinity: Command Reptiles

Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Channel Divinity to command reptiles.

As an action, you present your holy symbol and invoke the name of your deity. Each reptilian creature that can see you within 30 feet of you must make a Wisdom saving throw. If the creature fails its saving throw, it is under your command as if by the command spell for 1 minute or until it takes damage. While it is under your command, it is friendly to you and any other creatures you designate.

Swift Attack

Starting at 6th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action with a melee finesse weapon on your turn.

Envenomed Weapon

At 8th level, you gain the ability to envenom your weapon. Once on each of your turns when you hit a creature with a weapon attack, the creature must make a Constitution saving throw or become poisoned until the end of your next turn. The saving throw DC is equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier.

Dominating Command

Starting at 17th level, creatures affected by your Command Reptiles feature are treated being under the dominate beast spell.
